Relearning What I Once Took for Granted: Scott's Recovery After a Traumatic Brain Injury

After a collision left him with a traumatic brain injury, Scott McHugh worked to rebuild his speech, movement, critical thinking, and short-term memory. In his own words.

A few years ago, I was a passenger in a vehicle that was T-boned on my side. I was diagnosed with a traumatic brain injury and suddenly faced the difficult process of relearning many things I had once taken for granted.

While physical rehabilitation was part of my recovery, cognitive rehabilitation became one of my greatest needs. I had to work on talking, walking, critical thinking, and especially my short-term memory.

I am very grateful to say that my experience with Focus Brain Therapy has helped me make meaningful progress. Today, I feel that I have greater mental clarity, and I am extremely thankful for the staff and the support they have provided throughout my journey.

Sandy has been incredibly helpful with scheduling appointments and coordinating the documents and information I need. Ali has done a great job introducing me to the different parts of therapy and helping me understand what I can continue working on outside of my sessions.

Yenni has been my rock since day one. Her knowledge, encouragement, and attitude have been an inspiration to me. The combination of the staff, the exercises, and the therapy has played an important role in my continued progress.

They have also supported me as I continue my education and pursue a career in engineering and 3D printing, which means a great deal to me.

Thank you to everyone at Focus Brain Therapy, and a special thank you to Dr. Huseboe for creating this program and making this type of care available.

I am truly grateful for everything you have done for me and wish all of you continued success.

Truly,

Scott McHugh
